BVExpo Report: Wrangler StreamMachine
There’s something cool at BVE! My friend was at the Telestream booth yesterday and spoke to Eric Norrell (the Wirecast evangelist, pictured here).
So there’s this new box that seems pretty wild: it’s a Wirecast “fly pack” kit by 1 Beyond called the Wrangler StreamMachine. It’s small and light but packs an amazingly powerful broadcast PUNCH!
It’s a field-hardened PC with built-in monitor and keyboard, the latest Wirecast software and a Matrox VS4 capture card.
This particular Matrox card is way cool: it allows 4 HD-SDI inputs, which allows the recording of the individual 4 camera ISO feeds to be recorded to disk, so you can edit later. So you can stream live at your event, but save all the original high resolution elements (ISO camera feeds and video assets) and then re-edit to clean it up after, at your leisure.
And get this: Eric said that the Wrangler can actually handle TWO of these Matrox cards so you can do an EIGHT camera shoot with this awesome little box!
Here’s a shot of the side so you can see all the goezintas and outtas… It’s kinda blurry, but I’ll see if he can get a better shot of it tomorrow.
Imagine…. now you can walk into a venue with your own TV Studio swinging from your arm (in a box about the size of a [thick] briefcase) to Wirecast-switch an eight camera shoot, stream it live AND still have the option to record and “fix it in post”!
